We are thrilled to announce that members of Ensemble Vocatrix have been invited to collaborate with Heidi Duckler Dance in the hour of Hildegard

the hour of Hildegard is the first installment of Heidi Duckler Dance's exploration of the work of Hildegard von Bingen. This introductory piece will focus on Hildegard's work "Physica" which includes her writings on health and her nine healing systems which include the medicinal use of plants, elements, trees, stones, fish, birds, animals, and reptiles. Vocatrix is excited to return to St. John's Cathedral for this performance, where we staged our groundbreaking production of "Ordo Virtutum" in 2015. 

Tickets include an organic supper inspired by Hildegard's healing systems catered by Heirloom LA. Performed by five dancers from HDD and three singers from Ensemble Vocatrix.

Spotlight on Hildegard
in honor of International Women's Day

Hildegard was a woman ahead of her time. Her work spanned the theological, artistic, and scientific fields in a time when women rarely had the opportunity to speak up. Hildegard was formally canonized as a Saint and declared a Doctor of the Church in 2012. Here's some of her Medieval medical advice:

Hildegard was truly an inspirational woman and we continue to explore her influence today. We are privileged to honor her teachings through our partnership with Heidi Duckler Dance, bringing together two arts organizations founded by women.
